When it comes to December – nothing is more quintessentially summer than a cold cocktail. Bonus points if you’re sipping it poolside. The problem is, many of the classic go-to’s are laden with sugar and other nasties that will sabotage your hard earned results.

But have no fear, HYPOXI is here with 5 low-carb cocktail recipes that you can sip on sans guilt.

Cucumber Mojito 


Serves: 1
Ingredients:

5 thin slices of cucumber, extra for garnish
8 fresh mint leaves, extra for garnish
½ lime cut into 4 wedges
1 tbs lime juice
2 tsp sweetener (stevia, erythritol, monk fruit powder)
60ml white rum
150ml soda water

Method:

Fill a 450 ml highball glass with ice
Add the cucumber, mint, lime juice and sweetener to a cocktail shaker and muddle
Add the rum to the cocktail shaker, cap and shake
Pour the mixture over ice and top with soda water
Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a cucumber slice

AVC Moscow Mule 


Serves: 1

Ingredients:

45mls Apple Cider Vinegar
45mls vodka
1 wedge of lemon or lime juice
3-4 cubes of ice
¼ tsp ground cinnamon
150ml diet ginger beer

Method:

1.) In a glass, combine the vodka and apple cider vinegar. Squeeze the lime juice into the glass and toss in the wedge
2.) Add the ice cubes and sprinkle on the cinnamon
3.) Top the mixture with as much or as little diet ginger beer

Orange Margarita 


Serves: 4

Ingredients:

180ml Tequila
⅓ cup lime juice
1.5 tsp liquid stevia
5 cups of ice cubes
Sea salt (for rim of glass)
Lime wedges (for garnish)

Method:

Combine all ingredients (except sea salt and lime wedges) in a blender
Blend using the ice crush setting until a slushy texture forms
Add more ice if needed to make it about 950ml total (for 4 margaritas)
Run a slice of lime around the rim of each glass. Dip the rim onto a plate of shallow bowl covered in the sea salt
Pour frozen margaritas into the glasses and garnish with lime

Lonkero 


Serves: 1

Ingredients:

1 tbs gin
3 tbs freshly squeezed juice from a grapefruit
½ tsp lemon juice
2 drops liquid stevia
240ml soda water

Method:

Combine the gin, juices and the stevia in a highball glass
Add the sparkling water and stir gently

Strawberry Smash 


Serves: 1

Ingredients:

60ml vodka
½ tsp liquid stevia
2/3 cup of ice
350ml sparkling water
4 large strawberries (chopped roughly)
6 mint leaves

Method:

In a glass, add the fresh strawberries, mint and sweetener
Muddle so the strawberries release some juice
Add vodka, ice, sparkling water and stir
Taste and add more sweetener if needed
